Pierre is managing director of Argosy and independent advisor to the Mertech Group investment committee. Within Argosy, Pierre is responsible for overseeing the investments in which Argosy has an interest. This includes sourcing of opportunities, managing the proprietary investment process, post-investment oversight (including management support in significant transactions) and the disinvestment process.
Pierre is an admitted attorney in South Africa and solicitor in England and Wales. Prior to joining Argosy in 2008 Pierre gained professional experience as a commercial, private equity and funds lawyer at pre-eminent international law firms, having negotiated a variety of significant transactions with complicated investor and shareholder dynamics.
Pierre serves as a director on a number of the boards of businesses in which Argosy is an investor.

Thandi joined Argosy in January 2012 as an executive director.
Thandi has responsibility for the corporate governance and company secretarial functions of Argosy, including oversight over its investee companies and other associates. Her role includes project management and support on investment or divestment transactions.
Thandi qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young. After leaving the audit profession, she spent several years at HSBC Securities Services in the Isle of Man - managing fund valuations, including complex hedge funds. Thandi is a full member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments. She is also a Chartered Secretary, qualified through ICSA.

Rachel joined Argosy in January 2014 as office administrator and general assistant.
Rachel was born, raised and educated in the Isle of Man and is currently underway with her studies to become a chartered corporate secretary.
Before joining Argosy, Rachel worked in a number of customer-facing roles within a number of prominent Isle of Man businesses.

Christian is senior investment associate and has been with Argosy since 2014.
In this role Christian closely supports the managing directors in all the facets of their work, with particular emphasis on research and financial analysis and modelling.
Christian gained a post-graduate Master in Finance degree at the University of Neuchatel, Switzerland and has recently completed his MBA at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Prior to joining Argosy, Christian worked for 7 years as a financial and investment analyst and portfolio manager for high net-worth clients of a multi-national wealth management business based in the Isle of Man.

Magnus joined Argosy in June 2018 as senior accountant.
Magnus has the responsibility of overseeing the finance and accounting functions within Argosy, including some of its investee companies and associates. His role also includes assisting the analyst function on project work.
After qualifying as a Professional Accountant (SA) with Baker Tilly Greenwoods in Cape Town, South Africa, Magnus worked in financial management positions for various companies in a range of industries, including property, information technology and investment management.

FRANCOIS VAN NIEKERK
Francois is the founder of the Mertech Group and a member of the Mertech Group Investment Forum.
Francois was educated at Paarl Boys High, the SA Naval Gymnasium, universities of Stellenbosch & Unisa SBL and worked for Mobil Oil, Anglo American, Rembrandt and Armscor before venturing into private enterprise in 1980. He is the founder of the Mertech Group and the Mergon Foundation.
Francois is a co-founder of the Atterbury Group and was Chairman of Atterbury Investment Holdings Ltd from inception to 2012. He founded or co-founded a number of operating companies still active in various industry sectors, was a Council member of Unisa and Fincom member until 2014. He received a number of academic-, business- and philanthropy awards; including an honorary doctorate from Unisa.
Pieter is the Chief Executive Officer of the Mertech Group and the Mergon Foundation.
Pieter obtained a law degree from the University of Pretoria before commencing his professional career at PricewaterhouseCoopers. He proceeded to study accountancy at the University of Johannesburg and qualified as a chartered accountant in 2002.
After completing his articles Pieter specialised in corporate international tax at PwC until he joined the Mertech Group in 2005. Pieter was initially appointed as the Chief Financial Officer at Infotech until 2007, when he assumed his current position. Pieter serves as a non-executive director on the board of a number of companies in which the Mertech Group is invested and is a Trustee of the Atterbury Trust.
Almero has been a key member of the investment team since joining the Mertech Group in 2008.
Having initially qualified and working as an electronic engineer, Almero also obtained pre- and postgraduate accountancy qualifications from UCT before launching his career in management consulting.
Almero was also a founding member of Decipher Consulting, a South African niche consulting firm, where he was a director of the business.
Gauché joined the Mertech Group in 2010 and oversees a number of the group's investments in addition to being responsible for group finance and operations.
After qualifying as a chartered accountant, Gauche completed a masters degree in Taxation at the University of Pretoria in 1998.
Gauché had a successful career of nearly a decade at Deloitte, where he served for some years as Associate Director – Strategic Business Development and Managing Director – Deloitte Institutional Funds.
Following upon his career at Deloitte, Gauché consulted independently to listed clients for two years before following his passion for improving the provision of healthcare to the poor by joining the Foundation for Professional Development.
As the Chief Operating Officer for FPD, Gauché managed a donor funded portfolio of R1,2bn and a staff compliment of 1,100 people, spread across Southern Africa.
CARLA VAN RENSBURG
Carla is a trustee of the Mergon Foundation and a member of the Mertech Group Investment Forum.
Carla qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1993 and started her career with Deloitte. She obtained her Masters Degree in Taxation and was also the Chairperson of the Deloitte Charity Committee. After her time with Deloitte she spent two years in the United Kingdom with British Telecom and Railtrack Plc in property finance.
From 2000 she was Finance Director with the Mertech Group and also a director of Attfund Limited. She stepped down in 2006 to focus on her three young daughters and moved to Australia with her husband in 2008. She returned in 2012 to take up her various responsibilities as a member of the founding family of the Mergon Foundation and the Mertech Group.
LAMBERT VAN DER NEST
Lambert is a member of the Mertech Group Investment Forum, contributing to this forum with more than twenty years worth of business experience.
After completing his M.Sc (Soil Science), Lambert co-founded the company Envirogreen, which became the market leader in its field, with operations across South Africa and with over 400 employees.
After completing an MBA at the Potchefstroom Business School Lambert was accepted to participate in the prestigious "Owner President Management Program" (OPM) at the Harvard Business School. At the age of 32, the Fraser Alexander Group of Companies appointed Lambert to head up the Group as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Fraser Alexander is a service company to the mining sector. The Group has operations across Africa, in South America and employs 6000 people.
Lambert received the award for outstanding performance after the completion of a MBA from the Potchefstroom Business School as well as an award for his contribution to environmental rehabilitation in South Africa by the same business school in 2005. He also received the award of becoming an honorary member of the International Golden Key Society in May 2003.
